Bishie Con – Celebrating Boys’ Love with Cross Play Drag Show and More

A grand convention awaits Yaoi lovers in the upcoming Bishie Con 2009 at St. Louis, Missouri. From November 20 to November 22, the Holiday Inn Southwest will turn into a magical place, where Boys’ Love shall fill the air. Spawned from the creative minds behind Kawa Kon, which is St. Louis’ very own general anime convention, expect this event to showcase the many faces of “male-slash” through art, literature, fun activities, experts’ panels, cosplay display, and more.

Though Bishie Con is meant for the mature audiences, both in their real age and the age they act, it does have some daytime events which welcome younger attendees. But in the evening, all events, panels, and viewing rooms are strictly ages 18 and up.

Come in your own costume and avail of the $5.00 cosplay discount, and if desired, you could also bring along weapon props like swords and guns to reanimate your favorite character further.

If you haven’t experienced crossdressing your cosplay before, now is the perfect chance to do so with the Cross Play Drag Show! It is Bishie Con’s own version of the masquerade with one specific rule: everyone must be cross-dressed in a way or another. Bishie Con’s Kings and Queens will then keep the entertainment high with karaoke and unique skits! In this event, you would not only get the opportunity to pay tribute to your favorite character of the opposite gender, but you will also win fabulous prizes should you rule your way to stardom!

Other events are Wonderland Host Party, Yaoi Bedtime Stories and Sleepover, Takarazuka Auditions, Drag Ball Z (Saturday Night Dance),Yaoi Checkers, GAYsha Bathhouse Pool Party, Open Karaoke, and Whose Line Is It Yaoi?. There will also be a “Drag” Racing game, and no its not the indy 500 but rather the “indie” 500, wherein you form a team together, pick a bishie from their list, and dress him up for the wackiest race ever! Fabulous prizes await not only for the 1st to cross the finish line in each “drag” race event, but also the best pretty boys in drag!

If you’re under 18, don’t worry about being not old enough to take part in the late-night festivities, because Bishie Con will also be throwing a party out into the night in the con suite! Two under 18 themed parties will happen on Friday and Saturday night, and the themes are Bad Luck’s Platinum Record Party and Dumbledore’s Coming Out party. Now don’t you think the latter would be a good time to showcase your own Draco Malfoy or Severus Snape look, or perhaps a cross of both?

You could also get to let your creativity flourish with the Art Show, which is a wall dedicated to the arts, Yaoi or non-Yaoi! Tons of dealers and artists will be there as well, including Nebraska’s very own anime convention: Anime Nebraskon!
