Louisiana Renaissance Festival – Resurrecting the English Times in Six Different Styles

Posted in Medieval

Reliving the medieval times is far from over with the Louisiana Renaissance Festival. From November 7 to December 13, your weekends will be turned into a blast to the past, medieval style! Each of the six weekends will feature a different theme, all treating us to fun-filled activities, marvelous feats, a unique shopping experience, and enlightening our minds and hearts of the wonderful sights and sounds of the Renaissance.

The first weekend will present the theme “God Save the Queen”, as the name implies, the festival will celebrate the arrival of her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth to Albright Village. A costume contest will be held in her grace, to measure the passion of lads and maidens. The ladies’ flair for fashion will reflect the beauty of her reign, while the men’s skill in swords play shall bear her iron-fist rule.

The Feast of Fools, which is the second week’s theme, will let loose crazy imaginations and let tomfoolery flourish! Aside from the hilarity that this theme will surely ensue, there will be a costume contest to see how well you could mix fashion will comedy.

Clear yer throat lads and get ready for some rowdy pirate talk because the third weekend will showcase the Pirate Adventure theme. Join LA Ren Fest’s “Dress Like a Pirate” weekend and get to win yourself surprise treats, or take a walk to the plank should you still be hungover from the former weekend’s tomfoolery.

The fourth weekend will pay homage to the Harvest and Thanksgiving weekend. To show the appreciation of LA Ren Fest, all kids 12 years and below will be considered as guests of the faire for free of charge! And since the Christmas shopping season looms near, some very special shopping deals will also be available during this weekend.

Wear your kilt and unleash your Celtic Pride with the Highland Fling on the fest’s sixth week, and celebrate all things Irish and Scottish as well. The music, dancing, and merrymaking of the Celtic nations will be relived to the tune of traditional Pipe and Drum bands to your enjoyment.

The final weekend will be celebrating the Holidays, as songs of carols feel the air and the villages designed Christmas style! ‘Tis the Season for mega shopping, and Christmas games to take part in, but don’t forget about the Fireworks Finale over the lake for a breathtaking finish!

Entertainment will be rounded up by various shows and several stage acts from swordsmen to jugglers, plus a full contact joust and birds of prey. Bards and dancers will also fill the scenes, as well as dozens of merchants boasting tons of unique arts and crafts to your delight.
