Zenkaikon 2009 – Relive Your Favorite Characters for Cosplay Contests, Cosplay Dance and other Cosplay Fun!

| Posted in Anime

Time to try on your costumes and master your skits, because Philadelphia’s fastest growing anime convention is back for another annual celebration of your favorite fandom! This year, the place to be is at Radisson Hotel Valley Forge on November 7 to 8, which is a convenient location just minutes away from Philly!

If you’re looking forward to dispose of your old box of limited edition Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Cards and earn extra cash, or is simply searching for some old school manga to collect, then catch the Dealers Room from 10pm to 8pm on Saturday! This is the perfect time to bag your own copy of your most sought after anime / manga / video game collectibles, while the Artist Alley is open from 10am to 12 midnight on the same day. That will be more than enough time to grab a one of a kind artwork that would immortalize your favorite fantasy characters or take home a souvenir from the convention!

As always, Zenkaikon encourages every attendee to come in the costume representing their favorite characters, with or without plans of joining the highly anticipated Cosplay Contests. This year, the Cosplay Contests will be divided into the Hall Cosplay Contest, the Cosplay Masquerade, and the ever popular Cosplay Dating! The first two contests will let you sport your fancy martial arts move, your own dance choreography, and let you clash your anime swords together with your buddies in a mock battle that would relive your favorite anime fight scenes!

A huge list of gaming titles are set for the all weekend Video Games Tournament! Two video gaming room will be reserved exclusively for these, with big games to test your skills like Halo 3, Unreal Tournament, Gears of War 2, Tatsunoko versus Capcom, Bleach Blade Battles, Naruto GNT EX3, the head banging Rock Band 2, and more! Table Top and Card Games will also be resurrected, so keep an eye out on these, which will take you back in time to the enchanting world of Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, and others.

Diverse groups and individuals will be present in the convention as guests, from rock bands Eden Star, Eyeshine, Geist, and cosplay singer Reni Mimura, to comedians Uncle Yo, Geek Comedy Tour, and production companies Ikuzo! Studios, 2009 Robotech Convention Tour helmed by Kevin McKeever, and Concept Galaxy represented by Stephanie Chateau and C.J. Collins. Voice actors Robert Axelrod, Johnny Yong Bosch, and Trina Nishimura will also be there, as well as C.J. Henderson, the acclaimed writer with 50 novels under his belt, and Web Comic creators Friday Knights and Geeks Next Door.

AMV Contest, Dancing Events, as well as Panels and Workshops will also be featured in the Convention, so keep your eyes peeled for more info!
