Dynasty Swords
The jian, referred to as "The Gentleman of Weapons", is a double-edged straight sword from China. Ming and Qing jian had tassels attached to the hilt, which were typically passed through an openwork pommel during the Ming Dynasty and inserted through a hole in the grip during the Qing Dynasty. The dao, known as "The General of Weapons", is a single-edged sword, also from China. It became popular among cavalry during the Han Dynasty due to it being an effective chopping weapon.
