Bastard Swords
Bastard swords were first used by the Germans and the Swiss, but soon these weapons gained popularity in other parts of Europe, especially during the latter half of the 15th century. A bastard sword is also called a hand-and-a-half sword and normally had a long handle that can be held by either one or two hands. Side rings and finger rings were usually present on the hilt to protect the hand.
